Course Overview
The course costs £495 and is made up of three parts:
- Module 1 - Learn (Online)
- 9 hours of self-paced learning
- Covers theory, safety, and infection control
- Module 2 - Practice (Face to face day 1)
- Anatomy, infection control, equipment handling, safety procedures and blood draws on a venepuncture training arm
- Certificate of Attendance
- Module 3 - Perform (Face to face day 2)
- Supervised venepuncture practice, managing complications, competency checklist, live blood draws
- Certificate of Completion

What you will learn

Sara ter Haar is an experienced phlebotomist who designed this course after identifying a real need for more well-trained people to perform blood tests. She wanted to create something better than the standard approach, with a strong focus on quality, confidence, and real-world skills. Small, relaxed classes enable her to get to know her students and offer personalised, supportive guidance in a friendly learning environment.

Is this course suitable for beginners?
Yes, no previous medical training or experience is required for our Phlebotomy Essentials Course. It is designed for beginners and provides all the foundation knowledge and practical training you need. For experienced healthcare professionals, an accelerated refresher course is also available.
What qualifications will I receive following course completion?
Upon completing the course, you will earn a CPD accredited Certificate in Phlebotomy.
How long does the course take to complete?
The online component takes approximately nine hours to complete. You must then attend two six-hour, in-person training sessions within three months of completing your online training.
Is there a guaranteed job after the course?
While employment is not guaranteed, successful candidates may be offered interviews with Vital Flow Health, subject to suitability and business needs.
Where is the training held?
We offer sessions across key UK cities, with a maximum of ten participants per session.
